New BECC Parking Procedures

Dear Families,

As you know, parking for drop-off and pick-up have become challenging.  Working with administration, we have come up with a new drop-off/pick-up/parking procedure that will be starting Friday, October 17, 2014.

As with any new procedure, we ask for your patience as we begin.  We anticipate this taking some time to become routine, and may make adjustments as we go along.

If you have any questions regarding the policy, please call us at 781-270-1808 or 781-273-7632.

BECC Drop-off and Pick-up Procedures

Drop-off

Buses:

Only buses will be allowed to park in the fire lane before the Big Playground.  All buses will be unloaded first, then children in cars will be unloaded.  This area is labeled “B” on the map.

Parking:

If you wish to park and walk your child to his/her teacher, please park in the fire lane beyond the second playground past the loading dock.  You can park here short term to walk your child up to his/her teacher.  If you choose this option, you should be parked there by 8:15 (for morning drop-off and 12:15 for afternoon drop-off).  If you come any later, you will be delayed by buses and parents participating in the “live” drop-off.  This area is labeled “A” on the map.  If there are any designated parking spaces beyond the Big Playground, you are welcome to park in those spaces as well.

Live Drop-off:

8:30 programs

For parents who want to participate in a live drop-off, this process will not start until 8:25, so please plan your arrival accordingly.  This area is in front of the Small Playground and is labeled C on the map.

A line will start with the first car pulling up to the crosswalk.    We will allow eight cars at a time to unload.  Please turn off your car engine, exit your car, and move to the curbside of your car to remove your child from the car.  CHILDREN CAN ONLY BE REMOVED FROM THEIR CAR ON THE CURB SIDE OF THE CAR.  A staff member will take your child to his/her classroom line.  Once a staff member takes your child, you may get back in your car and wait to be directed to exit the drop off area.  Once the initial 8 cars are unloaded, we will have 8 more cars line up.  We will repeat this process until all children have been dropped-off.

12:30 programs

For parents who want to participate in a live drop-off, this process will not start until 12:25, so please plan your arrival accordingly.

Pick-up:

11:30 pick-up

For parents who participate in the live pick-up, this process will start at 11:30. Similar to morning drop-off, we will have cars line-up in area C in front of the small playground.  Parents will line up in their cars starting in front of the crosswalk. Starting with the first 8 cars, parents will turn off their engines and come to the cub side of their car. Parents will hold up the colored sign with their child’s name and classroom printed on it. When you are holding up your sign, your child will be brought to you and you will put your child in the car on the curb side of the car. CHILDREN MUST BE IN THE CAR ON THE CURBSIDE OF THE CAR. Once you and your child are in the car, you will be directed to exit the drop off area. Once the initial 8 cars are unloaded, we will have 8 more cars line up.  We will repeat this process until all children have been picked-up.

12:30 pick-up

We ask that all parents picking-up at 12:30 park in the firelane past the loading dock (area “A”). Please make sure that you are parked by 12:20 to ensure that you do not get held-up by the buses and live drop-off.

2:30 pick-up

At this time of day, there should be parking spaces available. Please park your car in a designated parking spot and walk to pick your child up from his/her teacher. You may also park in the fire lane in area A at this time.

Back to School Night

Dear Parents,

On Wednesday, October 15, 2014 the BECC will be holding a Back to School Night. This is an opportunity for you to learn about your child’s classroom, schedule, and curriculum at the preschool. Each classroom will have one or two sessions for parents to attend between 6:30 and 7:30. Please refer to the blog from your child’s classroom teacher for specific details regarding each classroom’s individual schedule.

Teachers will be speaking globally about their classrooms. If you have specific questions about your child, please set up a time to speak with your child’s teacher in private as many parents will be in the room, and we take confidentiality seriously. If you have any questions, please contact us at 781-270-1808.

We will also have our Scholastic Book Fair open to parents on this night (please see the enclosed note and flyer), so feel free to stop by and browse our books.

We look forward to seeing you on October 15.
