Open House for 2017-18 School Year

The Burlington Early Childhood Center (BECC) will be hosting an Open House for new students on Friday, January 27, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.  The BECC is an integrated public preschool for children ages 3-5.  We support children of all abilities in both general education and special education settings.  We also provide support in the areas of speech-language, motor, and social skill development.

Our Open House will provide families with an opportunity to view our programs, meet the teachers, and pick up registration packets to enroll their children for the 2017-2018 school year.  Students must be 3 years old by August 31, 2017 to be considered for enrollment for the fall of 2017.

For more information about registration/Open House, please call 781-270-1808.  For more information about our program, please visit the Burlington Early Childhood Center Website The BECC is located in Burlington High School at 123 Cambridge Street.  Our entrance is at the back of the building between the two playgrounds.

Guidelines for School Delays and Closures

As we have had our first snowfall of the season this week, I thought it would be a good time to share school closure guidelines for the BECC.  If the Burlington Public Schools are closed due to weather, school is cancelled for all grades Preschool-Grade 12.  If a 2-hour delay is called for the Burlington Public Schools, please use the following guidelines:

Whenever there is a two-hour delay all AM preschool sessions are cancelled.

If your child is in the Cub Cadets with Lisa or the Kinderstars with Erin your child will have school from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

If your child participates in a full day program in the Puppy Pals, Busy Bees, or Leaping Lizards, they will have school starting at 10:30 AM. Only the children that attend for a full day in these classrooms will come in on delayed openings. If your child is dismissed at 11:30 AM, they do not attend on delayed openings.

The afternoon sessions will run as scheduled from 12:30 PM – 2:30 PM.

** If there is a delay on a Friday, no students will attend on that day, except for the Kickstart Kinderstar Students.**

Dressing for Winter Weather

mittens

The cold weather is now upon us. Please remember that we will continue to go outside on a daily basis. Weather permitting we will be outside when the temperature is above 25 degrees. Please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather including wearing a winter coat, hat, and mittens to school every day.
